There’s a new cannabinoid emerging in the cannabis industry with its own unique  effects: delta-8 THC. Here at SIG Distro we're here to help you understand and know more about delta-8 THC.

What is Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 is a variation of the familiar THC compound. The “8” in delta-8 stands for the placement of a chemical bond, one step over from where it sits in delta-9, Delta-8 THC is extracted from Delta-9 THC.

As much as Delta-8 THC and Delta-9 THC sound similar there are key differences.

The effects of Delta-8 THC

The effects of Delta-8 THC vary between each individual, it I typically known for its reduced psychoactive effects compared to Delta-9 THC.

Unlike CBD, which is known for its lack of psychoactive effects, that's is not the case for Delta-8 THC, in other words , psychoactive effects in Delta-8 THC are much lesser than Delta-9 THC but more than CBD.

As mentioned Delta-8 THC can be psychoactive for some consumers, Delta-8 THC is still euphoric and stimulates appetite, it can still energize our relay you depending on the strain, and yes it can sometimes create the heady psychoactive experience to some consumers.

The main. difference with Delta-8 THC even though it has all those effects like others, it does them with less intensity.

Much like CBD and Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 THC creates a euphoric experience as well as pain reductions and decreased nausea,

Why Try Delta-8 THC?

As much as the user-experience is showing promising signs. the effects are yet to be studied at length.

A lot of cannabis consumers find Delta-9 THC can be too much to handle or too intense to enjoy., the is why Delta-8 THC might be a good fit for you. Exploring new methods to feel energized or to reduce pain can be a great way to finding what suits you best.

Delta-8 THC is available to consumers when they might not have access to  Delta-9 THC, where some states may have individual restrictions. Delta-8 cannabinoids are completely hemp-derived and fall under the 2018 Farm Bill.

What should consumers know about delta-8 THC?

It is known to connect to both CB1 and CB2 receptors in our bodies. A Study was conducted in 1995 by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam in conjunction with Shaare Zedek Hospital, Bikur Holim Hospital, and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In this study, delta-8 THC was administered to eight children ranging from 3 to 13 years of age with various hematologic cancers. These children had been treated with different drugs and chemotherapy for eight months prior to treatment with delta-8-THC.  With this treatment, vomiting was completely prevented and side-effects were reported as negligible.

The efficiency and stability of delta-8 THC make it an extremely valuable cannabis-derived chemical compound. As science defines and refines the applications for cannabis’s eclectic collection of cannabinoids, we will benefit, one puff at a time, one day at a time.
